Lynch Meyer

My journey to becoming a solicitor and working in a law firm started while I was still a law student. Juggling work and uni commitments was no easy task, but Lynch Meyer’s awareness and support for my studies enabled me to succeed both at work and uni. Now that I have finished studying, Lynch Meyer is investing in my career as a solicitor, providing me with the knowledge, training and mentoring needed to reach my potential. I am thoroughly enjoying my journey at Lynch Meyer and I look forward to continuing it into the future.

After 21 years at a small legal firm I joined Lynch Meyer as a partner in 1999, expecting quality work, great clients, amicable working environment and genuine work/life balance. I found all of that and more. There are not many firms where you are genuinely supported in developing your legal practice, and walk out the door at 6 p.m. most evenings having had a busy and rewarding day.

Lynch Meyer is a dynamic firm where opportunities exist at every turn. The work is stimulating and the people passionate and well rounded in their approach. I for one have benefited from the firm's flexible work policy. As a mother of two young children, I have the flexibility and support to adapt my work hours to accommodate my young family. It is a refreshing change to work in an environment that encourages energy, creativity and dedication. I aspire to be the type of role model and mentor to others that the partners have been to me.

As a law graduate I was placed with Lynch Meyer as part of my Graduate Diploma. I immediately felt at home amongst a great group of people and really enjoyed the work. When my placement ended I was asked to stay for one day a week until I finished studying. There were no full-time positions available at the end of my study but, rather than look elsewhere for full time work, I liked the place so much I asked to stay on part-time until things picked up. I was hired for two days a week - and after a month, was offered a full time job!

I began my legal career with Lynch Meyer and developed very quickly as a lawyer because of the instant access I was given to the partners. The firm also provides me with the support I need to develop my own practice in the largely virgin area of biotechnology law. The partners here are highly competent and always able to assist with whatever issue might arise. In addition, the firm actively markets and encourages my practice a rea through branding and by supporting my attendance at industry functions, publishing biotechnology newsletters and running seminars.

I have been with Lynch Meyer for my entire working career (17 years) and I enjoy being part of such a strong and well built team. My ideas and suggestions have always been well considered and I have received many opportunities to develop my skills across a myriad of areas. We are provided with up to date systems, training and technology that enable us to work efficiently. It is extremely rewarding to work in such a friendly and supportive environment where it is evident that the contribution of all staff is equally valued.

I approached Lynch Meyer as I was impressed by their excellent commercial reputation and client base. By the time I spoke with them I was pregnant. Despite this they were not deterred from hiring me. Throughout my pregnancy, they were accommodating of my need for flexible working arrangements, particularly working from home. My baby arrived 9 weeks early and required extensive hospitalization. The firm was wonderful, they were supportive and  took all the pressure off a very stressful situation, in circumstances which were not ideal for them.
